University Quiz Finals: Ndejje, UCU to clash for season three crown

The long-awaited grand finale of the Ultimate University Quiz Season Three is on, and all eyes are on Ndejje University and Uganda Christian University (UCU) as they battle for the coveted championship title this Thursday, November 27.

After 16 intense weeks of head-to-head competition, dramatic eliminations, and razor-sharp intellectual battles, the stage is finally set for a showdown that promises power, precision, and pure adrenaline.

Both finalists arrive with contrasting journeys, but equal hunger for the win.

UCU, seasoned and confident, booked their place in the finals with a commanding victory over last season’s champions, Gulu University. Their 360–250 win was not just a triumph; it was a declaration of intent.

The Mukono-based institution showcased mastery across all categories, from fast-thinking general knowledge to complex geopolitical history, delivering one of the most dominant semi-finals runs of the season.

Their Round Four in the semifinals, where they fired off with correct answer after correct answer with near-perfect execution, cemented them as the team to beat.

“Nobody is safe in this competition,” the quiz mistress said that night. And UCU’s performance proved exactly that. 

Ndejje storm Finals in First-Time Run 

But waiting for them tonight are the season’s most compelling entries: Ndejje University, first-time participants who have defied history, pressure, and expectations to reach the final on their debut. Their 340–280 victory over Busitema University was a masterclass in composure and execution.

Ndejje stayed calm even when the momentum swung, building their lead one strategic answer at a time. From sharp general knowledge to flawless scientific reasoning, they demonstrated the kind of balance and discipline that defines champions.

What makes their run even more impressive is their consistency. Ndejje University has climbed through each stage of the competition with the grit of seasoned veterans.

Their semifinal showed a team that isn’t intimidated by the spotlight. They brought humour, speed, accuracy, and a level of teamwork that pulled them through round after round.

On Thursday (November 27), they step onto the biggest stage of the season as the underdogs-turned-contenders, with a chance to make history as the first debutants to lift the Ultimate University Quiz trophy.

A clash of strengths

UCU enters the final with experience, depth, and the psychological advantage of having conquered last year’s champions. Their strength lies in high-pressure rounds, especially in final stretches where precision is everything.

Ndejje University brings freshness, agility, and the element of surprise. Their ability to adapt quickly across different categories, geography, science, sports, and entertainment makes them unpredictable and thrilling to watch. The matchup is balanced and ripe for drama.

Project lead, Max Adii, said viewers can expect a fast-paced contest, packed with punchy answers, shifting leads, and moments that decide everything in seconds.

What’s at stake

The winner of Season Three will take home sh25m worth of equipment, plus laptops and cash prizes for each participant and coach. But beyond the prizes, tonight is about pride, reputation, and establishing intellectual dominance.

The Ultimate University Quiz, powered by Net Studios Africa and proudly brought to viewers by Vision Group, has grown into one of Uganda’s most competitive youth education platforms, one that transforms classrooms, energises universities, and develops sharp thinkers.

The Bank of Uganda, the season’s major sponsor, has remained a firm backer of this mission. During the official launch of Season Three, the Governor, Micheal Atingi-Ego, remarked that the quiz “continues to ignite a spirit of curiosity and intellectual courage among young Ugandans,” adding that such competitions are vital because they “prepare learners for the complexity of today’s world.”

On Thursday, that spirit will be on full display. Two teams. One title.
