Second Leg Quarterfinal

Pepsi University Football League holders Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) says his side is looking to utilize home advantage when they face Nkumba University today in Nkozi.

The two teams could not be separated in the first leg in Entebbe last week with the game ending in a 1-1 draw, leaving the tie wide open for either team to advance to the semi-finals stage.

“We are positive and motivated. We want to win, we have rectified the mistakes we made in Entebbe and we are going to limit them today. We are also going to use the home advantage and it is going to give us an upper hand if we are to progress,” said Kisuze

However, with the kind of performance that Nkumba displayed at home, they are taking a competitive encounter with UMU in Nkozi.

With the away goal rule still valid in this competition, a goalless draw is enough to see the UMU advance to the last four courtesy of Akbar Ssentongo’s goal away in Entebbe.

Similarly, should the game end in a 1-1 draw, it will be decided by spot kicks meaning that it is a must-win for Nkumba or a draw of more than one goal (2-2, 3-3) and more will be playing in the favour of the visitors to go through.

The winner of today will join Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Uganda Christian University (UCU) who have already booked slots in the semi-finals.

UCU saw off the inaugural champion Makerere University while MUBS pounded Bugema University 1-0 on Tuesday.
