THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSITY QUIZ 2026
Kampala University (KU) overcame a spirited challenge from Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) to advance to the Round of 16 of The Ultimate University Quiz Season Four with a 190-120 victory.
This was Game Four of the season, which like all the previous and upcoming games, was broadcast live on Bukedde TV 1, TV West, Wan Luo TV and the Vision Digital Experience (ViDE) app.
Sunday's duel opened with questions on taxation and East Africa from quiz mistress Lydia Lakwonyero. KU took an early lead, scoring 70 points against UMU's 20.

In the second round, which focused on global affairs, KU extended their advantage to 130 points, while UMU closed the gap slightly to end the round on 90 points.
The teams then tackled science questions in round three. Here KU added 40 points to reach 170 while their opponents gained just 20, taking their tally to 110 points.

In the fourth and final round, each team faced 10 rapid-fire questions. KU managed to answer only two of them correctly to wrap up their performance with 190 points while UMU got only one question right, ending the contest with 120 points.
"Game Four took an early toll on Uganda Martyrs University," said project manager Max Adii of Vision Group, adding that UMU attempted to close the gap in the second round but struggled to catch up.
"After the third round, UMU still had 60 points to square up, and that is where it became hard, and KU ended up taking the day. Both teams have a lot of potential to come back stronger in Season Five."

KU joined Lira university, Soroti University and reigning champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) in the Round of 16.
The four teams advanced after defeating Muni University, University of Kisubi and Mountains of the Moon University in the earlier playoff games.
Organised by Vision Group, the competition is sponsored by Bank of Uganda as the platinum sponsor, alongside the Uganda Communications Commission, Uganda Revenue Authority, Capital Markets Authority, Parliament, Turkish Airlines, National Environment Management Authority and Hariss International Ltd (Krystal Water Uganda).

The 2026 edition kicked off with 20 universities, all competing for the title last won by UCU, cash prizes and equipment. The grand finale will be on November 26.
The other universities still in contention are Makerere University, Busitema University, Gulu University, Mbarara University of Science & Technology, Bishop Stuart University, Kabale University, Ndejje University, International University of East Africa, Bugema University, Kyambogo University and ISBAT University and Nkumba University.
Vision Group Deputy Editor-in-Chief Felix Osike saluted the universities that have participated in the initial round of the quiz. He said the quiz aims to develop informed and confident young people through a knowledge-based competition.
He encouraged eliminated teams to learn from their competitors and return stronger, adding that the challenging questions also prepare students for job aptitude tests.
"The competition is heating up as teams have fought for a spot in the Round of 16. To those who have been knocked out, refine your strategy and come back stronger next year," said Osike.
He urged audience to follow the competition across the Vision Group platforms every Saturday and Sunday at 7:30pm ahead of the November 26 final showdown.

This weekend, attention turns to Game Five and Game Six in the Round of 16.
On Saturday (October 17), Makerere University will take on Soroti University for a place in the quarterfinals.
Then on Sunday (October 18), Season One champions Mbarara University of Science & Technology will battle with defending champions Uganda Christian University for a last-eight slot.
