UCU 2 Kumi 2

Uganda Christian University secured a quarterfinal slot in the Pepsi University Football League following a 2-2 draw in Mukono district on Wednesday.

Kumi’s forward Stephen Nyalimo opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute before Joshua Oosan doubled their lead in the 36th minute.

UCU’s captain Geoffrey Gagganga pulled one back with a header from Peter Kyomuhendo’s well-taken corner kick in the 66th minute.

In the 72nd minute, Isaac Ofoyrwoth leveled matters for the hosts with a rebound to ensure his side picked up at least one point at home.

A 2-2 draw cements UCU's place at the top of Group D with 11 points, while Busitema University has 5 points while KIU and Kumi are rooted at the bottom of the log with 4 and three points respectively.

Despite failing to bag the three points at home, UCU assistant head coach Collines Ahumuza remains confident that his side still has an upper hand to go far.

“It was not an easy game. We conceded two goals in the first half at home but we managed to calm down the pressure and secured a point from home.” Said Ahumuza.

Having secured a point on the road, Kumi head coach John Opam said his side failed to stick to their game plan.

“We came knowing that our opponent was going to give us a challenge. We tried to put up the best performance because we knew what was going to happen here. We played against them at home and we lost and revenge was our emphasis but we managed to secure an away draw which is also important,” noted Opam
