TVET results improve as females lead top grades in May/June results
According to UVTAB, 17,038 candidates sat the assessments, of whom 14,382 (84.4%) acquired full competence in their respective fields

Female candidates have dominated the top grades in the latest technical and vocational assessments, accounting for the majority of Class I Distinctions and Class II Credits at both National Certificate and National Diploma levels.
The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) released the May/June 2026 End of Programme Assessment results on Wednesday at its secretariat on Kyambogo Hill, reporting an improvement in overall performance compared with the same assessment series last year.
The release was presided over by the acting Minister of Education and Sports, Dr Chrysostom Muyingo.
According to UVTAB, 17,038 candidates sat the assessments, of whom 14,382 (84.4%) acquired full competence in their respective fields.
A further 2,656 candidates attained partial competence. These included 1,139 females and 1,517 males.
Overall, 84.3% of female candidates and 84.3% of male candidates attained full competence, while 15.7% of male candidates and 15.4% of female candidates attained partial competence.
The overall performance improved by three percentage points compared with the May/June 2025 assessment series, when 6,955 candidates, representing 81%, attained full competence.
Of those who attained full competence, 503 candidates (14%) achieved Class I Distinction, while 3,113 (83%) obtained Class II Credit.
Inclusive education
UVTAB also reported progress in inclusive assessment, with 60 candidates with special needs registered for the examinations. They included 26 females and 34 males.
Of these, 57 candidates, 24 females and 33 males, turned up for the end-of-programme assessments.
Candidates with visual impairment and albinism formed the largest category, with 23 candidates.
