The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates’ court has charged and remanded to Luzira Prison a secretary of Uganda Liberal Teachers Union Members SACCO for allegedly conspiring to defraud over shillings 2.7 billion.
The over shillings 2.7 billion was part of the 6.6 billion granted to three National Teachers’ SACCOs by President Yoweri Museveni to develop themselves.
On August 20, 2025, Nathan Kakson Twinomujuni appeared before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and denied the charge of conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 363 of the penal code Act Cap 128.
State Attorney Jane Francis Itei informed court that investigations are still ongoing and asked for a mention date
This prompted the magistrate to adjourn the case to September 3, 2025, for bail hearing application and mention.
Prosecution alleges that Nathan Twinomujuni, Evans Mutesasira Kaganizo and Hassan Maganda between November and December 2024, in Kampala city conspired to defraud Uganda Liberal Teachers' SACCO of over shillings 2.7 billion by affecting the cost of the purchase of 500 acres of land comprised in Block 3 Kabwoya/Kyangwali sub-county counties.
On March 6, 2025, the same court charged Mutesasira, the chairperson of Uganda Liberal Teachers Union Members SACCO and businessman Hassan Maganda for allegedly defrauding over sh1.3b.

Prosecution alleges that Mutesasira, Maganda and others still at large, between November and December 2024 in Kampala district with intent to defraud obtained over 1.3 billion from the said SACCO by falsely pretending that they were selling to them 500 acres of land comprised in Block 3 Kabwoya/Kyangwali Sub-Counties, whereas not.
