“Dear Msgr Kanyike, congratulations upon the golden jubilee anniversary in priesthood. We thank you for the many years of dedicated service you have rendered to St Mbaaga’s Seminary since 1978. During those difficult years, you supported this seminary not only spiritually and academically but also financially."

“We know that, among other things, you purchased a brand-new lorry (Mercedes Benz, green in colour commonly known as Maaso Malungi) for the seminary! We are happy to inform you that it is still in place and functional although quite old. We thank you Monsignor for loving St Mbaaga! We also express our sincere gratitude to you for the excellent work you did at Makerere University as chaplain of the students, workers and lecturers for many years and for the commendable work you are doing at Kyengera parish where you are serving as founding parish-priest,” Sserunjogi said.

The Bishop of Masaka Diocese, the Rt Rev Serverus Jjumba who presided over the Eucharistic celebration also praised Kanyike for his disposition of charity, love and dedicated service to God and humanity.

During the same function, St Mbaaga’s Major Seminary Ggaba also congratulated another veteran staff-member, the Rev Fr Deogratias Muwemba upon his priestly diamond jubilee anniversary. Fr Muwemba has served as a lecturer at the seminary for 39 years.
