Leaders in Masindi have been challenged to solve the encumbrances on the proposed land for the establishment of Bunyoro University and its faculties.

The call was made last evening during a consultative meeting of Bunyoro University Taskforce Committee for the establishment of the university and stakeholders from Bunyoro.

The Member of Parliament Buruli County, Akugizibwe Alled Ronald castigated fights among leaders as a major hindrance to the establishment of the Bunyoro University.

The coordinator for the Taskforce Committee for the establishment of Bunyoro University, Patrick Byakagaba noted that identifying land for the Bunyoro University Masindi campus is the greatest stumbling block for the establishment of the university and its faculties.

Ochira John Pakony, the Assistant Commissioner University Education and Training at the Ministry of Education and Sports also asked the leaders to solve the encumbrances on the proposed land for the establishment of the university since it’s the major factor.

Prof. Samuel Kyamanywa, the chairperson of the taskforce management committee for the establishment of Bunyoro University said that currently they are developing the academic program for the university.

Prof. Kyamanywa says the program for Bunyoro University aught to have been submitted to the national council for higher education by the beginning of this calendar year.

On July 27^th, the Masindi district council turned rowdy over identification of Bunyoro University land missing on the order paper.

Leaders in the district are haggling over whether the university should be situated on Kihonda

Demonstration Farm Land in Labongo subcounty or Kiyanja Land in Masindi Municipality.
