Two-time Pepsi University Football League champions Kampala University(KU) have to utilize their home advantage today when they face last season’s runners-up St. Lawrence University(SLAU) in the first leg of the quarterfinals at Luzira grounds.

In the last five meetings between the two sides, SLAU has won three and KU has only managed two wins.

However, Kampala University coach Vincent Tumusiime is confident that his side has what it takes to get a win at home.

“We have to keep in mind that the last time we met SLAU in the knockout stage, they beat us in the first leg and we beat them in the second, so I am not worried. I know nothing is going to stop us from winning today because we want to progress to the semifinal,” stated Tumusiime

SLAU head coach Davis Ssozi is also optimistic that his side is in good shape to grab victory away from home.

“We are facing a two-time champion but we are not going to pay attention to history as much as we respect them, we have to know that teams change so whoever prepares well will proceed to the next round,” said Ssozi.

The action continues on Wednesday as Nkumba University hosts reigning champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) in Entebbe.
