Candidates pursuing a 2026 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) are set to sit their final exams, which, as is tradition, will begin with a briefing on Thursday (October 8).
After the briefing, the finalists will then start writing their exams, set by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), on Monday (October 12).
According to the UNEB timetable, it will all start with Mathematics Paper 1 in the morning, followed by General Science (Chemistry) Paper 2 and Chemistry Paper 1 (Theory) in the afternoon.
The following day, candidates will do English Language in the morning and History and Political Education in the afternoon.
And so on and so on.
This year saw a percentage increase in UCE candidature by 16.4% — from 433,163 in 2025 to 503,214 in 2026.
Last month, UNEB executive director Dan Odongo said the board had registered a general increase in the total number of registered candidates at Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), UCE and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) levels.
Of these, 52% are females and 48% males.
Meanwhile, PLE candidates will officially start their exams with a briefing on October 30.
They will write their papers on November 3 (Mathematics, Social-Studies and Religious Education) and November 4 (Integrated Science and English).
The Senior Six finalists will be briefed on November 6, and begin writing their exams on November 9 until November 26.
