In a move aimed at supporting the financing of operations in private schools and religious institutions, Pride Bank has unveiled the Pride Bridge Finance Facility.
The specialised financing solution is designed to help private schools and educational institutions overcome short-term cash flow challenges while strengthening their long-term financial sustainability.
Speaking during the launch on Tuesday at their offices in Kampala, Joseph Lwanga, Manager, Agribusiness and Green Finance, noted that the facility is timely to help schools address the financing challenges.
The facility supports a broad range of institutional needs including payment of staff salaries, school maintenance, utility bills, acquisition of teaching and learning materials, purchase of equipment and furniture, as well as construction and expansion of school infrastructure.
"Education is one of the most important drivers of national development. Through the Pride Bridge Finance Facility, we are helping schools manage cash flow more effectively so they can focus on delivering quality education rather than worrying about short-term financing challenges.
Our goal is to become a long-term financial partner to Uganda's education sector by providing practical solutions that strengthen institutional resilience and support sustainable growth,” Lwanga noted.
Timothy Asingya, the Relationship Manager at Pride Bank, added that the facility goes beyond lending by providing schools with an integrated financial ecosystem designed to improve operational efficiency and strengthen financial management.
He highlighted that the Pride Bridge Finance Facility is further complemented by school fees loans for parents and guardians, bulk salary processing, salary loans for teaching and non-teaching staff, staff savings schemes and minors' savings accounts designed to promote financial literacy among students from an early age.
Meanwhile, Joseph Fetaa, the Head of Business at Pride Bank, said the integrated nature of the solution differentiates the Bank from conventional lenders by addressing the financial needs of the entire education value chain.
"Schools require more than access to credit. They require financial systems that improve efficiency, strengthen governance and support long-term growth. By combining working capital financing with digital fee collection and value-added banking solutions, we are helping schools build stronger financial foundations while creating greater convenience for parents, teachers and learners."
The launch of the Pride Bridge Finance Facility reinforces Pride Bank's commitment to developing innovative, customer-centred financial solutions that respond to the unique needs of Uganda's key economic sectors.
For many schools, operational expenses such as staff salaries, utilities, maintenance, infrastructure development and procurement of learning materials continue throughout the academic term, while school fees, the primary source of income, are collected periodically.
This mismatch between expenditure and revenue often creates temporary liquidity pressures that can affect service delivery and delay planned investments.
Once well implemented, the Facility will provide timely working capital that enables schools to maintain uninterrupted operations while awaiting school fee collections.
The solution allows eligible institutions to access financing ranging from shs5m to shs1b, with repayment periods of one to sixty months structured around termly fee collection cycles.
