Makerere University management has appointed and rehired a total of 63 staff members across various academic and administrative positions, including professors, associate professors, senior lecturers, lecturers, assistant lecturers, and key roles within the university’s administration.
The university appointments board made this decision at its continuation of the 761st meeting on May 22, 2025.
The list shared to New Vision Online on May 27, 2025, signed by chief human resource officer Deus Tayari Mujuni, shows that five of the appointments are new, eight are post-retirement contracts, 10 are contract appointments, while 40 are promotions.
Several academic and administrative staff members have been recognised with new appointments and promotions at the institution.

According to the university spokesperson Betty Kyakuwa, these appointments and promotions reflect the institution’s ongoing commitment to academic growth, leadership development, and excellence in service delivery.
