Over 5,000 set to graduate from Kyambogo University

The ceremony, scheduled to end December 11,  2025, will see 3,157 male (61%) and 1,981 female (39%) students receive awards from the 2021/2022 academic year, a cohort that was notably affected by COVID-19 disruptions, which delayed Senior Six examinations.

KAMPALA - Kyambogo University is set to graduate 5,138 students starting today December 10, 2025, during its 21st Graduation Ceremony, as the Police announce heightened security and traffic measures for the two-day event.

The ceremony, scheduled to end December 11,  2025, will see 3,157 male (61%) and 1,981 female (39%) students receive awards from the 2021/2022 academic year, a cohort that was notably affected by COVID-19 disruptions, which delayed Senior Six examinations.

In total, 367 students secured first class degrees, and the top ten performers achieved CGPAs between 4.85 and 4.98 across programmes such as accounting and finance, human nutrition and dietetics, food science, education, art and design, and food processing technology. Among the graduating students is Nakasango Teddy Charity who emerged as the overall best performer, attaining a CGPA of 4.98 in the Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing, while best male student Guma Francis recorded a CGPA of 4.93 in the Bachelor of Guidance and Counseling.

The university will conduct the ceremony by faculty and school. Day One will feature the School of Education, School of Art and Design, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Agriculture, School of Vocational Studies, Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation, and the School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

Day Two will cover the Faculty of Science, School of Computing and Information Science, School of Built Environment, Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering.



Speaking at a pre-graduation briefing, vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya lauded the university council, senate, staff and students for working tirelessly to reach this major milestone in the university’s academic journey. 

He further thanked the Government for its financial support, which enabled the institution “to maintain its mandate as a centre of knowledge and skills for service to God and country.”

Katunguka also confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni has been invited as the chief guest.  



With security a priority, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala announced tight measures to ensure the ceremony runs smoothly.

Security teams will screen vehicles, attendees, and luggage, while traffic Police will manage vehicle flow around the venue.

The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or objects.

Kawala said the primary goal is to guarantee the safety of all attendees.
