TEACHERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE

KAMPALA - After several months of searching, Uganda’s outstanding teachers are set to be crowned today Saturday (October 19, 2024) at the National Teacher’s Day celebrations.

The Teacher’s Making a Difference (TMD) project is an initiative of New Vision that recognises and rewards teachers who have gone beyond the call of duty to greatly impact their schools and communities.

The project is implemented in partnership with the Irish Embassy and Travelcare, one of Uganda's leading tour and travel management companies.

This year’s National Teacher’s Day celebrations are being held at Lugogo Cricket Oval, in Kampala.

Several dignitaries are in attendance at Lugogo including Kedrace Turyagyenda, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Sports, Vision Group Chief Executive Don Wanyama and Editor-in-Chief Barbara Kaija plus Kevin Colgan, the Ambassador of Ireland to Uganda, among others.

Vision Group has implemented the Teachers Making a Difference Initiative since 2008 as a strategy to inspire Ugandan teachers to be more innovative in finding solutions to the challenges facing education in their schools and communities.
