Museveni hails Brothers of Christian Instruction for role in education
In his preaching, Archbishop Ssemogerere said that over the last century, the Brothers' schools have taught many people and helped several to grow in faith and character both on and off the field.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended the Brothers of Christian Instruction for their contribution to Uganda’s education sector, saying their work has helped shape generations of disciplined and responsible citizens.
He said in his message, read on his behalf by Vice-President Jessica Alupo during centennial celebrations for the Brothers of Christian Instruction at Kisubi on Saturday (September 5).
He said the Kisubi Brothers, as they are also collectively called, have played an important role in shaping understanding, leadership, and other aspects of personal development, adding that he remains deeply indebted to them.
The Mass for the 100th anniversary celebrations was led by the Archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere, assisted by other clergymen.
The colourful celebration was attended by several prominent people, including ministers, priests, the Brothers, retired teachers, and old boys from Brothers of Christian Instruction schools, as well as local community members.
The Institute of the Brothers of Christian Instruction Kisubi has been recognised as one of Uganda’s leading institutions in the education sector.

The Brothers Institute arrived in Uganda in 1926, at the invitation of missionaries and has since played a significant role in the country’s education development, providing learning opportunities from nursery level to university.
Since their existence in Uganda, they have taught thousands of people through primary, secondary, tertiary and university education, equipping them with knowledge and skills that have contributed to national development.
“May God bless the founders who built this legacy and are carrying it forward into the next century," he said.
Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga paid glowing tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction.
“Brothers of Christian Instruction have spent years educating and mentoring young people at different levels,” he said.
"As a proud son of the Brothers who passed through their schools in St Henry’s College Kitovu and St Mary’s College Kisubi, I am pleased to come back here to you as you celebrate 100 years since your congregation came to Uganda.
“Today's celebration is not only for the Brothers, but for all of us, all the citizens in this country.”
