Following our story last week about what women thought a real man was, we got a lot of responses from men.

Some men thought some womenâ€™s specifications were rather unrealistic while the majority thought they too (men) should be given a chance to spell out their choice of good qualities in a woman. In other words, their ideal woman.

So, we put the question to a cross section of men in Kampala : â€œWhat qualities would you like in a woman?â€ The interesting thing about the men, unlike the women, is that many of them, despite their their ages confessed to a desire for gratifying physical attributes in a woman.

Another noticeable thing about the guys is that they were less assertive than the women in answering and often required a slight level of prompting before they could answer straight. There were more men who straight out inclined to answer the question than women. These were mainly married men, public figures or those married to the members of the first family.

Also, many men, unlike the women who seemed to have their answers on the finger tips, required time off to think about their responses and while some got back, others never did, clearly evading us by not picking their phones.

Second is a full woman. A woman who has feminine mystic. A woman who is not trying to be a man. A woman who feels deeply and is attracted to the things that women are attracted to like modesty, colour, dressing nicely and children.

â€œWomen are not like shoes. If you asked me what qualities I like in shoes, I would tell you, but people are more complicated. However, that said, I guess the important thing is that she has got some measure of charm and that she is kind.

Apart from qualities like attractiveness of the face and body (the sexual side of life), the most important thing is that she is a friend.

It is also not a bad idea that she is intelligent, because we can hold a conversation. You put all that in a package and you are close.â€

At the end of the day, she should be somebody who is not afraid of having many children. To me, it is not about the external features. Beauty is skin deep. The physical is not a criterion to go by.â€
