Inside govt move to overhaul 44 health courses

“Competence-based curricula is a sector reform matter that has to be anchored and governed at the inter-ministerial coordination committee level. We are working towards actualising the institutional arrangements with the relevant ministries, departments and agencies,” Driwale said. The reform will affect 44 programmes and introduce new competencies in emergency medicine, critical care and palliative care, as well as training in emerging health-related technologies.

According to the UHPAB data, a total of 89,663 candidates were registered by the health training institutions for the June assessment. Of these, 61,666 (68.7%) were pursuing nursing and midwifery programmes, while 27,997 (31.3%) others were candidates for allied health programmes.
