GULU - Gulu University has rescheduled the resumption of lectures for Semester Two of the 2025/2026 academic year to January 19, 2026.
The adjustment follows the declaration of January 15 and 16 as public holidays to allow citizens to participate in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
According to an internal memo issued on January 11, 2026, and signed by the vice chancellor, Prof. George Openjuru Ladaa, the changes affect both the reporting date for students and the commencement of lectures.
The memo was addressed to all students of Gulu University and copied to members of staff.
James Ojok Onono, the university communication officer, confirmed the rescheduling, noting that the decision aligns with the national electoral calendar.
He added that the university leadership encourages both students and staff to participate peacefully in the electoral process and to report back on the newly communicated date.
