Govt commissions sh1.5b school projects in Isingiro

The Government has commissioned infrastructure projects worth sh1.5b at various schools across Isingiro North County, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve the local learning environment.
The facilities feature modern, fully furnished classroom blocks with teachers’ offices and furniture.
The facilities were commissioned on Tuesday (July 21) at; Ruhimbo Muslim Primary School in Isingiro Town Council, Kitura Primary School and Nyakigyera Primary School in Kagarama sub-county.
The State Minister for Animal Industry and Fisheries, Dr. Bright Rwamirama, who presided over the commissioning ceremonies, disclosed that the facilities were constructed at a cost of sh1.5 billion.
Rwamirama noted that the commissioned infrastructure will greatly bolster the Universal Primary Education and Universal Secondary Education programmes.
He emphasised that providing a conducive and dignified learning environment remains a top priority for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government to ensure quality education for all learners.

The commissioning ceremonies, which were attended by Isingiro district local leaders and education officials, also saw the minister break the ground for the construction of additional classroom blocks at Kabingo Seed School, Nyakigyera Primary School and St. John Rusya Secondary School, which will cost sh1.2b.
Rwamirama challenged the district leadership to supervise the construction works to ensure that contractors produce quality work. He also urged residents in the area to vote for NRM flagbearers in the forthcoming Local Council 1 elections.
He also thanked the people of Isingiro for the massive support they gave to the NRM presidential candidate (Yoweri Museveni), whowon with 98.9% in the January 15 general elections.
Local leaders who witnessed the milestone lauded the Government’s continued investment in the district, noting that the new structures will accommodate the growing student population in schools.
Alone Turahi, the district chairperson, hailed the Government for investing in learning facilities, saying this will enhance performance in schools. He urged parents to take advantage of the facilities to educate their children. Isingiro Resident District Commissioner Adah Nasiima warned contractors against producing shoddy work.
Julius Ndyamuba, the Kagarama sub-county chairperson and other leaders thanked the Government for the facilities, noting that the infrastructure projects will largely solve the problem of congestion in schools. However, Ndyamuba called for more support to construct staff houses and computer laboratories.
