District Quota Admission: Gulu authorities verify seven students for govt sponsorship

The students were recommended to pursue various degree programs at Makerere and Gulu Universities.

Gulu district and city authorities have vetted and recommended seven students who sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 2025 for government sponsorship at public universities under the District Quota Admission Scheme 2026/2027.

The students were recommended to pursue various degree programs at Makerere and Gulu Universities.

The seven are; Prisca Daffine Ajok, who sat from Saint John Paul II College Gulu, has been recommended to pursue a degree in human resource management at Makerere University, Jacob Ocen from Gulu Central High school to pursue a degree in information and communication Technology (ICT) at Gulu University, Evefron Aryek from Saint John Paul II College Gulu to study a degree in Public Administration and management at Gulu university, while Sonia Celinda Aber from Saint John Paul II College Gulu is to pursue a degree in Science in Agricultural engineering at Makerere University.

Details of other students, Winifred Lamunu Ongom, Patricia Angwec Okello and Sheila Aber, are yet to be verified as they are yet to submit them to the district.

Gloria Aloyo, the Gulu district communication officer,  said the seven successful students were vetted and recommended for the district Quota Admission Scheme for Gulu district and city.

She said the exercise was conducted transparently to ensure that only eligible and bonafide residents of Gulu District benefit from this life-changing opportunity.

Aloyo explained that the District Quota Admission Scheme is about giving every deserving student an equal opportunity to access higher education while upholding transparency and fairness in the selection process.

She wished the recommended students success as they begin their exciting chapter and prepare to contribute to the development of Gulu District, city and Uganda.
