Bugema University head coach Medhi Nyanzi is confident that his side has what it takes to get a win when they host Makerere University Business School (MUBS) today in Luwero during the Pepsi University Football League quarterfinals.
The Brazilians progressed to the quarterfinal stage as one of the two best second-placed teams due to a superior goal difference (13). They finished second from Group A with 13 points, one point behind leaders and defending champion Uganda Martyrs University (UMU).
“We have prepared well and we are good to go. We had a couple of friendly matches which have changed our team shape and character,” said Nyanzi
“We are ready to take on MUBS and we are going to use the good performance we exhibited in Mukono to get a win at home.”
Bugema will be hunting for their maiden UFL title, their best finish being third in 2019 when they lost to UMU. They face a two-time champion who also finished fourth last season
MUBS captain Derrick Otuke is equally positive that his side is in a position to kick on.
“We have added on to our squad depth after strengthening our defence and midfield which I believe will give us a lot of options. The team is in shape and our target this season is to win the title back,” said Otuke
MUBS qualified for the knockout stages as table leaders of Group B with 13 points but to go past Bugema away, the Nakawa-based side has to recover their scoring.
