Bishop Stuart University has promoted senior academic staff to the rank of associate professor.
The promoted associate professors, Silvester Katuromunda and Noel Kansiime Kiiza were unveiled at a professor’s congratulatory dinner held at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara City on Friday.
The new promotion brings the total number to 15 professors the university has; these include 5 full professors and 10 associate professors.
Bishop Stuart University chancellor and bishop of Ankole diocese, Rt Rev. Assoc. Professor, Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, officiated at the event of welcoming the two into the family of professors.
Associate Prof. Noel Kansiime Kiiza, holds an associate professor of public administration and governance. He is an academician, researcher, and consultant with extensive experience in public administration and governance, research and capacity building.
Kansiime has served as Acting University Secretary, BSU from 2024-2025 and is currently serving as the dean of faculty of business, economics and governance, BSU.

Associate Professor Katuromunda is an academic and researcher in agronomy crops and pastures. Currently is based at BSU department of agriculture agribusiness and environmental sciences.
Previously, he lectured at Makerere University and Kyambogo University and has over 20 years of experience in teaching, research and mentorship and his expertise covers extensive research and mentorship in agricultural and environmental sciences.
Speaking at the event; Bishop Mwesigwa challenged the promoted professors to keep a good name, reminding them that the position they were promoted to is a hard-earned title.
He also asked them to be purposeful for whatever task they are going to be given, and aim at transforming the lives, especially of young people.
He hailed Bishop Stuart University for continuing to preach moral values, moving into a new change of curriculum, infrastructure development and promoting financial discipline. He challenged university staff to aim at achieving set goals of the university.
The University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Mugisha, warned the newly promoted professors not to engage in any unprofessional conduct and urged them to stay ahead of their passion and discipline.
The two promoted professors thanked University management for raising them to such a high rank in the university and committed to serving the expectations of the university.
