Archbishop Ssemogerere asks Kisubi Boys PS alumni to give back to school
Ssemogerere proposed that the former students visit the school to spend time with the students, and thereafter, identify a project that they could take up as alumni - as a way of giving back.

The archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere, has asked the former students of St. Donozio Ssebuggwawo Primary School, Kisubi, to take active participation in the life and development activities of their former school.
He proposed that the former students visit the school to spend time with the students, and thereafter, identify a project that they could take up as alumni - as a way of giving back.

Ssemogerere, himself a former student of the school, was presiding over the school’s annual day celebration, which took place at the school at Kisubi, on Entebbe Road, in Wakiso District on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
“We pay to tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction for their contribution to the education sector in this country. They run several reputable schools and tertiary institutions. For 100 years since they came to Uganda, they have given holistic education to thousands of children and young people, many of whom are now very useful people. We thank God for their 100-year fruitful ministry in this country,” Ssemogerere said.
During the thanksgiving mass, archbishop Ssemogerere confirmed 600 pupils into the Catholic faith. He asked the newly-confirmed pupils to be brave Christians, who promote and defend the Catholic faith in their words and actions. The Prelate also gave first Holy Communion to a large number of pupils.

During the same function, the students, staff, parents and friends of St. Donozio Ssebuggwawo Boys Primary School celebrated 100 years of the education ministry of the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Uganda. The Brothers, who are locally most referred to as the Brothers of Kisubi, administer St. Donozio Ssebuggwawo Boys Primary School Kisubi, among several other schools and tertiary institutions.
About the Brothers of Christian Instruction
The first group of Canadian Brothers arrived in Uganda in 1926. They were invited by the White Fathers (Missionaries of Africa), who wanted them to assist them with the administration of the schools they had started. The first group comprised Canadian Brothers, including: Bro. Charles Jules Poitras, Bro. Leo Colleratte, Bro. Eugene-Marie and Bro. Aime.
Upon arrival, the Brothers took over the administration of St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK). They eventually built new schools, including St. Donozio Ssebuggwawo Boys Primary School, which is currently a mixed school.
The celebration was also graced by the Provincial Superior of the Brothers of Christian Instruction and several other members of the congregation.
The headteacher of the school, Bro John Mary Vianney Atwongyeirwe, thanked the school’s stakeholders for participating in the celebration.
The school's cultural dance maestros entertain guests during the function.
