The First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, has approved Friday (January 30) as the date for the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results.
This followed a briefing in which the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) presented the performance of candidates ahead of the release.
When contacted, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the First Lady approved Friday this week as the day for the release of PLE results.
“It is true the board (UNEB) has briefed our minister on the performance of the 2025 PLE, and she approved Friday as the day for the release. All the details will be shared on that day,” she said.
A total of 817,885 candidates registered for the 2025 PLE series compared to 797,444 in 2024, representing a percentage increase of 2.5%.
The candidates were registered from 16,140 examination centres.
Of the total, 389,529 of the candidates were male, while 428,356 were female.
A total of 522,039 (64%) of the candidates are funded by the government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program, while 295,846 (36%) are privately sponsored.
61 of the registered candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School uzira. Of these, 7 are female while 54 are male.
