Vision Group journalist Tamale laid to rest

Journalists and friends of the media fraternity on Wednesday (September 16) flocked Serubona village in Mpigi district to pay their last respects to Vision Group journalist David Tamale, who died on Tuesday.
Tamale, 37, was a journalist working with Bukedde TV under Vision Group, where he worked for 15 years. He succumbed to hypertension after several months of treatment.

Vision Group deputy editor-in-chief Felix Osike told mourners that Tamale was an obedient young man who would do his work with passion.
Tamale's supervisor, Hannington Muluuta, spoke about the deceased as a man who loved his work, always available for any assignment and loved his mother so much.

He added that Tamale was always a happy man, who would always joke with fellow workers and never held grudges.
Journalist Abubaker Lubowa, who represented the media fraternity, praised Tamale as a man who had passion for his work.
Lubowa said he covered the 2021 and 2026 election campaigns with Tamale, noting that he (Tamale) exhibited a high level of commitment towards his work.
"We faced a lot of challenges on the campaign trail of the National Unity Platform presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, but he was committed to his work," noted Lubowa.

"I wish to thank Vision Group for serving the country well with objectivity and feeding people with the truth at all times," he said.
Fr Ssemayengo cautioned journalists against misleading the public, saying they should stick to their role of informing the public.
He also cautioned members of the public against misusing social media, citing cases where living people are falsely pronounced dead on social media platforms.

Mpigi district chairperson Simon Peter Kawuki represented the Leader of Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi, who praised Tamale for being a hardworking journalist.
Also in attendance was Sheikh Yasin Kiweewa, the head of Daawa at Kibuli. Tamale was buried at his ancestral home at Serubona B village in Kituntu sub-county, Mpigi.
