A sombre mood gripped Soroti city on Thursday (January 22) as the casket bearing the body of the late Ngora district woman Member of Parliament, Annet Isodo, arrived at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Main Church, drawing hundreds of mourners.

Community members, political leaders and residents gathered at the church to pay their last respects, as prayers and quiet reflection marked the funeral procession.

Leaders from across the region, including local government officials, civil society representatives and party leaders, joined family members in mourning the late legislator, whose death has left a significant void in the political and social fabric of Ngora district and the wider Teso sub-region.

Hundreds of mourners later filled the PAG Main Church for a requiem service held in her honour, as hymns, prayers and testimonies were offered in remembrance of her life and service.

Leading the service, Pastor Mackey Ekou of PAG called on mourners to stand together in solidarity during the difficult moment.

Joan Alobo, the Member of Parliament for Soroti city, eulogised Isodo as a prayerful, resilient and dedicated leader who served her people with commitment and humility.

The late MP’s husband, Counsel Samuel Isodo, emotionally told mourners that the loss was still difficult to comprehend.

Her sister-in-law, Sarah Adongo, described Isodo as a blessing to both her family and the wider community.

Isodo is survived by her husband, lawyer Samuel Isodo, and their three children. Family members announced that she will be laid to rest on Saturday (January 24), as burial arrangements continue and mourners gather to celebrate her life and legacy.
