NEC's Brigadier General Mwesigwa, hailed for professionalism and loyalty

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces has mourned the death of Brigadier General Moses Mwesigwa, describing him as a calm, professional and dedicated officer who made a significant contribution to peace and security in Uganda.
Brig. Mwesigwa, the General Manager of NEC Security Services Limited, died on September 12th, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital.
During the burial at Butumba cell, Muhoro Town Council, Kagadi District, on Thursday, the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, described the deceased as a natural leader whose exemplary performance, commitment and resilience earned him admiration from his seniors, peers and subordinates.
In a message delivered by Lieutenant General James Mugira, the Managing Director of National Enterprise Corporation-NEC Security Services Limited, the CDF stated that Brig. Mwesigwa approached his work with a high level of professionalism and integrity and was instrumental in the restoration and maintenance of peace and security in the country.
The CDF further said Brig. Mwesigwa leaves a legacy of sacrifice, professionalism, loyalty and service to the nation, which will remain a reference for generations to come.
According to the military history read during the ceremony, Brigadier General Mwesigwa joined the Defence Forces on October 4th, 1995, as a recruit and was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1996 after completing an officer cadet course in Jinja.
The CDF further said Brig. Mwesigwa leaves a legacy of sacrifice, professionalism, loyalty and service to the nation, which will remain a reference for generations to come.
According to the military history read during the ceremony, Brigadier General Mwesigwa joined the Defence Forces on October 4th, 1995, as a recruit and was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1996 after completing an officer cadet course in Jinja.
He subsequently served in various command, intelligence and leadership positions within the UPDF before becoming the General Manager of NEC Security Services Limited, a position he held until his death.
The UPDF said it met all burial expenses and also contributed five million shillings to support the bereaved family.
At the burial, it was also announced that the deceased's registered family are entitled to survivors' benefits, whose details will be formally communicated to them.
Meanwhile, Bishop Emeritus of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Samuel Kahuma Abwoli urged mourners to remain firm in their faith despite challenges and difficult moments.
Brigadier General Moses Mwesigwa is survived by his widow, Akarungi Aisha, and four children.
The UPDF said it met all burial expenses and also contributed five million shillings to support the bereaved family.
