Tributes have been paid to Agnes Lillian Ndagire Ssenkubuge, the long-serving musical minister of Christ the King Church Kampala, who died from cancer-related complications on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the age of 63.
Among those who expressed deep admiration of the fallen alto maestro was the parish-priest of Christ the King Church Kampala, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gerald Kalumba, who praised her for her long and exemplary musical ministry in the church.

“It is a difficult time to be here when Agnes Ssenkubuge is not in the choir, but is just lying in the coffin there. It is a very hard reality, which is also very difficult to come to terms with. She was a very committed member of Christ the King Church Choir. She loved the choir and the church. She devoted her time, energy and resources to the music ministry of the choir. She sang without expecting praise," Kalumba said.

Others who paid tribute to Ssenkubuge included the Defence and Veteran Affairs minister, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, a member of the extended family, as well as veteran dramatist and playwright Aloysius Matovu Joy.
The function was highly dignified by the presence of former Vice-President Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, former Inspector General of Government Beti Namisango Kamya, and several performing artistes, who included Ragga Dee (Daniel Kazibwe), Bebe Cool (Moses Sali), Dr. Bbosa (Sam Bagenda), and Silver Kyagulanyi.

During her tenure as the choir's chairperson in the 1990s, Christ the King Church Choirs' Music standard rose so high that it got invitations to perform at international choral music festivals, in countries such as Germany, Canada, US, Rwanda and Kenya.
The requiem mass was animated by the joint choir of Christ the King Church (Christ the King Choirs’ Association), which sang many of the songs that the late used to sing during mass at the church.
Ssenkubuge, who also worked as a professional clearing and forwarding agent, was the wife of celebrated playwright and drama actor, Charles Ssenkubuge Siasa. She was laid to rest at Ssanga, Nakawuka in Wakiso district on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
