World Bank to launch Uganda's 10-year devt framework, public finance review

KAMPALA - The World Bank Group (WBG) will today(Monday) launch two key policy documents aimed at supporting Uganda's long-term development agenda: the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and the Public Finance Review (PFR).

The event is taking place at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, bringing together government officials, development partners, and private sector leaders.

The new 10-year Country Partnership Framework outlines the World Bank's strategy to support Uganda's ambition of becoming a competitive upper-middle-income country by 2040.

The Public Finance Review examines Uganda's revenue and expenditure trends and recommends reforms to strengthen fiscal management.

It focuses on strengthening economic governance, improving health and education outcomes, connecting communities through infrastructure, and promoting a more productive and inclusive private sector.

Its proposed five-pillar agenda emphasises domestic revenue mobilisation, efficient public investment, human capital development, and better targeting of public spending.

Speakers at the launch include Finance Minister Henry Musasizi, National Planning Authority Executive Director Joseph Muvawala, World Bank Country Director Qimiao Fan, Private Sector Foundation Uganda CEO Stephen Asiimwe, and Standard Chartered Uganda CEO Sanjay Rughani.
