Shares worth over sh2.9b exchanged hand on the Umeme counter during the trading week accounting for 99% of the weekly turnover at the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE).
Data from Crested Capital shows that the exchange traded a total turnover of sh2.93b during the week, a drop from the nearly sh5.17b traded the previous week.
Other actively traded stocks included MTN Uganda at sh8.67m, Stanbic Holdings at sh4.63m, Bank of Baroda (BOBU) at sh4.42m, and Airtel Uganda at sh0.33m
In terms of price movements, MTNU appreciated 0.15% to close the week at sh205.30 per share while Umeme declined 2.33% to sh420. Other counters remained unchanged, with Airtel closing at sh65, BOBU at sh22.50, and Stanbic at sh52.
Cross-listed stocks saw significant fluctuations, with East African Breweries Limited surging 20.56%, Centum Investments rising 3.89%, and KCB Group increasing 2.87%. Jubilee Holdings dropped 4.65%, Equity Group Holdings declined 4.36%, and Nation Media Group fell 2.56%. The C11 - Crested's local companies' index edged down 0.08% to 105.72.
