KAMPALA - The Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) newly appointed Commissioner for Domestic Taxes, Denis Kugonza Kateeba, has paid a courtesy visit to SICPA Uganda’s facilities in Kampala.
Kateeba and his team's visit aimed at receiving insights into the Digital Tax Stamp (DTS) solution.
The solution that is managed by SICPA Uganda, under the aegis of URA, provides secured authentication, identification and traceability with integrated digital technologies where digital stamps with special security features (overt, semi-covert and covert) are affixed to legitimate products.

Digital Tax Stamps (DTS) is a system that makes use of electronic stamps and seals to monitor the manufacturing, importation, distribution, and sale of excisable products.
The purpose of the DTS is to safeguard consumers and legitimate enterprises while also putting an end to illicit trade, smuggling, counterfeiting, and under-declaration of excisable products.
Manufacturers and importers of excisable items are required to attach electronic stamps and seals to their products, and distributors and retailers are required to validate these stamps and seals using the URA mobile app or online site.

In addition, the DTS provides taxpayers with several advantages, including improved market access, trademark protection, product verification, and compliance incentives.
