It marked another step in Uganda’s effort to strengthen its footprint in global coffee markets.

Representing the Uganda Embassy in Berlin, Jessica Namuddu, the official in charge of tourism, delivered remarks on behalf of the Head of Mission, Ambassador Stephen Mubiru.

She reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to the coffee sector and its potential to drive international partnerships.

“Coffee is more than a commodity for Uganda — it is part of our identity, a lifeline for millions of farmers, and a bridge to international partnerships. The country is determined to position Uganda as a global brand for quality coffee,” Namuddu said.

The event also featured Tom Kalyesubula, a coffee farmer and exporter from Nakasongola operating under the Littlefarms brand, who used the occasion to connect directly with buyers and roasters.

His participation underscored Uganda’s commitment to empowering local producers and promoting sustainable, farmer-led growth in the coffee value chain.

A key highlight was a curated cupping and tasting session led by three renowned Bamberg-based roasters: Daniel Gerlach of Seven Hills Coffee Roasters, Patrick Baer of Wicked’N’Mellow – Speciality Coffee Kaffeerösterei Bamberg, and Alexander Gäcklein of M.A.G Roasters. Guests explored the depth and range of Uganda’s coffee profiles, from bold, naturally grown Robusta to the fragrant and complex notes of highland Arabica.

In a special presentation, guests were treated to a live Latte Art performance by Daniel Gerlach, a three-time German National Latte Art Champion and founder of 7Hills Café, adding an artistic flair to the coffee experience.

The event earned praise from key officials in the City of Bamberg.

Michael Heger, director of tourism, and Ulrike Siebenhaar, head of the department of world heritage, culture and tourism, commended the initiative as an impactful showcase of not only Uganda’s premium coffee but also its cultural identity, sustainability efforts, and tourism potential.

The Uganda Coffee Cupping Event in Bamberg stands as a milestone in Uganda’s broader strategy to elevate its coffee industry on the international stage. It also reinforced the message that every cup of Ugandan coffee enjoyed abroad contributes directly to improving rural livelihoods and supporting communities back home.
