(UCU win 2-1 on aggregate)

Uganda Christian University ( UCU) continued its dominance over Makerere University Business School (MUBS) as it progressed to its first Pepsi University Football League final since 2019.

UCU forward Isaac Ofoyrwoth scored the only goal in the 33rd minute to ensure the 2019 champions become the first side to qualify for this season's final.

A year after his red card cost UCU victory in the first leg of the semi-final last season, Ofoyrwoth was this time the hero ensuring UCU qualified 2-1 on aggregate.

He has scored many stunning goals, but Thursday's strike stood out thanks to Harry Abiti's pin-point assist.

UCU was the better side and enjoyed the home advantage as they created early openings to keep their opponents at bay.

The hosts' forward Abiti weaved through in the 33rd minute to create the opening for Ofoyrwoth, who finished with a ferocious right-footed shot past a hapless Innocent Ayebare in MUBS goal.

MUBS on the other hand also looked hungry, but they found themselves up against a resilient UCU side who only needed a goalless draw to qualify having held their opponents to a 1-1 draw in Nakawa.

At the start of the second half, UCU head coach Jimmy Kintu substituted Patrick Ogola making way for playmaker Derrick Tenywa which added momentum for the home side.

MUBS midfielder, Talibu Yokole had a chance to make amends for his side but missed from a set piece when UCU's Godfrey Arijole fouled him outside a penalty area.

But MUBS will have themselves to blame having allowed UCU to get an equalizer in Nakawa when they were pretty much aware of what UCU can do at their home.

Kintu believes his side has what it takes to give their fans a good final.

"We have a different team from what we had in 2019. We have managed to put on a good show, and good enough we are in the final, and we are going to work extra hard to display a deserving final," Said Kintu.

UCU will have to wait for the winner between Nkumba and Kampala University in the final.
