Tanzania and Uganda officials are set to meet to strengthen their shared economic interests and border cooperation during a three-day bilateral meeting in Dar es Salaam starting Wednesday (March 11).
The talks, scheduled during the fifth session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), will add to other joint efforts to tackle trade barriers and infrastructure challenges. The JPC also comes just weeks after the presidents of both countries met in February and agreed to push forward on lingering issues such as energy projects and regional security.
Set for March 11 to 13 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre, the talks aim to update progress from prior agreements and explore fresh areas for collaboration. Senior officials from both sides will also review an implementation matrix from the last meeting in Kampala back in 2022.
That fourth session focused on key sectors such as oil, railways, and power, where the two nations have overlapping ambitions in East Africa's energy market.
