Stanbic shares cross historic sh100 per share today

During the last seven months, the stock has been on a steady climb, partly linked to the bank's earnings performance. Crossing the sh100 threshold for the first time in its trading history on the USE marks a symbolic moment for a stock that has traditionally traded in double digits.

KAMPALA - The Stanbic Holdings counter closed above the sh100 per share during Wednesday’s trading session at the Uganda Securities Exchange.

The stock opened the session at sh99.02 and climbed to close at sh100.50, a gain of 1.49%. According to market data from Crested Capital, buyers were aggressive, placing bids of 58,800 shares at sh100.50, while a total of 221,855 shares changed hands at that price during the day.

Performance of other counters

Bank of Baroda also had a positive session, closing at sh61 from an opening of sh60.44. Sellers offered 70,000 shares at sh65, but trading settled at sh61 with a total volume of 490,490 shares.

Airtel Uganda slipped slightly, closing at sh170.49 from sh170.66, down 0.10%. MTN Uganda remained the most actively traded counter by volume, with over 10.4 million shares changing hands at sh435, unchanged on the day.

National Insurance Corporation (NIC), DFCU, Quality Chemical Industries (QCIL), New Vision Printing and Publishing (NVL), Uganda Clays (UCL) and Umeme all closed flat.
