Stanbic Holdings was the top performer on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) on Wednesday, closing at sh102, up 0.99% from its sh101 opening.

According to data from Crested Capital, the counter recorded 1,002 shares changing hands, valued at about sh102,204.

Overall, four counters registered deals during the session. Quality Chemicals Industries Limited (QCIL) posted the biggest percentage jump, closing at sh160.77 from an opening of sh160, a gain of 0.48%. It was also the most active counter by volume, with 82,000 shares traded worth roughly sh13.68m.

MTN Uganda added sh0.28 to close at Shs435.28, a 0.06% rise. The telecom counter saw 23,500 shares trade hands, valued at about sh10.23m.

Airtel Uganda edged up marginally, closing at sh171.02 from sh171.00, a gain of 0.01%. Volume stood at 33,377 shares, worth approximately sh5.71m.

The rest of the counters, including BATU, BOBU, DFCU, NIC, NVL, UCL and Umeme, recorded no deals and closed flat at their opening prices.

Total turnover across the four active counters came to about 139,879 shares valued at about sh29.71m.
