Rotary Club of Butambala launched to tackle community needs

Rotary International has officially launched the Rotary Club of Butambala, with a call to community members and local leaders to pool resources towards improving health, education, and economic livelihoods in the district.
The charter and installation ceremony took place at Big Thrill Hotel in Nateete, Kampala, and was presided over by former District Governor (District 9214), Rotarian Francisco Ssemwanga. During the event, Rotarian Hamidu Kato was officially installed as the president of the Rotary Club of Butambala.
Speaking at the event, Ssemwanga urged the public to embrace the Rotary spirit of "Service Above Self" by partnering with the new club to support vulnerable populations, including the elderly, under-resourced schools, and health facilities.
"Community development requires collective action. By joining Rotary, residents can directly contribute to sustainable solutions for local challenges," Ssemwanga noted.
Speaking at the event, Ssemwanga urged the public to embrace the Rotary spirit of "Service Above Self" by partnering with the new club to support vulnerable populations, including the elderly, under-resourced schools, and health facilities.

In his acceptance speech, Kato outlined the club's key priorities, which include boosting local economic development, improving sanitation, protecting the environment through tree-planting initiatives, and supporting youth skills development.
Kato pledged to aggressively mobilise membership across Butambala to expand the club's reach and impact.
"Our primary goal is to inspire people in Butambala and throughout Uganda to embrace Rotary," Kato noted, adding that; "When people understand Rotary's purpose, the organisation grows. As Rotary grows, our collective ability to serve and make a lasting impact increases significantly."
