KAMPALA - PostBank Uganda’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Ssenyange, has achieved a remarkable double triumph at the annual Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards, clinching both the CFO of the Year accolade and the Sustainability Award.

The awards, now in their ninth edition, are organised by Deloitte Uganda and ACCA Uganda to celebrate exceptional finance leaders, elevate industry standards, and recognise the role of CFOs in driving strategic growth and sustainable impact in organisations.

The ceremony, held on 16th October 2025 at Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme “CFO Vision: Creating Impact and Legacy”, recognised outstanding talent and leadership across Uganda’s finance sector.

Ssenyange’s recognition highlights his instrumental role in driving PostBank’s performance and sustainability initiatives.

Reflecting on his achievement, Ssenyange stated, “The theme for this year’s awards was an invitation to not only be leaders and create an impact and legacy, but also a reflection of the crucial role we each play in our organisations, as finance is a key segment of any entity.”

He added, “This win is a culmination of a great team at the Bank, support from management, and the strategic plans laid forth to create sustainable impact to both our staff, customers, and shareholders.”

Ssenyange’s five-year tenure at PostBank, which is currently rebranding to Pearl Bank, has seen impressive financial growth. In 2024, the bank reported a 20% increase in income to Sh. 248 b, deposits rose 25% to sh990 b, and the loan book grew 19% to sh719 b, reflecting a strong upward progression in the institution’s performance.

Delivering the keynote address, NSSF Managing Director Patrick Ayota emphasised the strategic influence of CFOs, urging them to create tangible impact for their teams and organisations.

“No other office in an organisation sits at the pinnacle of an organisation than finance. Hence, there is a need to be accountable in creating impact because you are sitting on top of all this information and data,” he said. He further noted, “Being a good CFO goes beyond numbers; it’s about creating impact and leaving a legacy, both professionally and personally.”

The Chief Guest, Assistant Auditor General James Bantu, commended Deloitte and ACCA Uganda for empowering finance professionals and recognising excellence.

“Over the past eight editions, 45 CFOs have been honoured and 65 awards across nine categories have been presented, which is a testament to the growing recognition of financial leadership as a cornerstone of institutional success,” he remarked.
