The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has cleared the merger of Marsh Insurance Brokers Uganda with OLEA Insurance Brokers Uganda, a move that folds one of the sector’s well-known brokerage brands into a growing regional player.
The regulator said it approved the deal after confirming that all legal requirements had been met. With that nod, every asset and liability of Marsh Uganda now sits under OLEA Uganda, which means clients will no longer deal with Marsh as a standalone broker.
Their policies, claims and records move with them. According to a statement, Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, chief executive officer at IRA, said services will continue without disruption.
He noted that IRA remains focused on building a safer and better-regulated insurance industry, even as consolidation reshapes the field.
