NIC leads market gainers in Tuesday’s session

Airtel Uganda followed with a 2.44% to close at sh181.32 from an opening of sh177. The telecom counter was the most heavily traded stock of the day, with 26,000 shares changing hands, lifting its market cap to over sh7,2 trillion.

KAMPALA - National Insurance Corporation (NIC) gained 7.84% on its share price on Tuesday to close the session at sh11 per share, up from an opening price of sh10.20 at the Uganda Securities Exchange.

Airtel Uganda followed with a 2.44% to close at sh181.32 from an opening of sh177.

The telecom counter was the most heavily traded stock of the day, with 26,000 shares changing hands, lifting its market cap to over sh7,2 trillion.

Bank of Baroda also posted gains, rising 6.06% to close at sh70 from sh66 at the open. The stock traded 22,000 shares during the session, with its market cap standing at sh1 trillion.

Other active counters

Quality Chemical Industries Limited (QCIL) was the busiest counter by volume, with 202,340 shares traded, though the price held steady at sh160.

Stanbic Holdings saw 84,851 shares changing hands at an unchanged price of sh101. MTN traded 6,750 shares at a flat closing price of sh435, with bids of 11,800 shares at sh435 against offers of 500 shares at sh445 per share.

New Vision Printing and Publishing Company (NVL) recorded slight activity of 230 shares at an unchanged sh145 per share.

BATU, DFCU, Uganda Clays (UCL) and Umeme recorded no deals during the session, closing unchanged at sh11,500, sh337, sh8.40 and sh63.00 respectively.
