Over 1,200 leaders of boda-boda riders from across the country have today (May 7, 2025) gathered in Gulu city for a leadership retreat.

The one-day National Boda-Boda Union Leadership Retreat is taking place at Sacred Heart Girls’ Secondary School in Bardege-Layibi Division under the theme: “Strengthening Leadership and Unlocking New Possibilities.”



The retreat aims to formalise the boda-boda industry and forge strategic pathways to economically empower a sector that employs over one million Ugandans.

Participants will also receive tailored financial literacy and empowerment training, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to manage income, savings, and investments.

The retreat is organised by the government in partnership with Operation Wealth Creation, NSSF, Stanbic Bank, Honda, among others.
