As part of its aim to seek views of stakeholders, including those at the local government level, on what should be prioritised in the next budgeting process, the finance ministry will this week camp in eastern Uganda.

This is part of the second week of the budget consultations across the country, where the recommendations will guide the finalisation of the budget of the financial year 2026/27.

According to the ministry, the workshops will be held in the districts of Gulu, Mbale, Masaka and then later Mbarara and Kabale.

From these workshops, the ministry wants participants to share views that show opportunities in service delivery that can help the government's plan of growing the economy Tenfold, and how their plans can be actualised.

Last week, the team was in Jinja, where planning state minister Amos Lugolobi said information that will be gathered will be studied by respective programme working groups, then Cabinet and Parliament for consideration during finalisation of the budget for FY 2026/27.

Lugolobi also appealed to local government leaders to ensure that all stakeholders in local governments are consulted, including council members and other stakeholders.
