Minister Musasizi announces 22.53% for NSSF savers

Finance Minister Henry Musasizi has declared 22.53% as the interest rate for National Social Security Fund (NSSF) members for the financial year ended June 2026.
The announcement was made during NSSF’s 14th Annual Members’ Meeting held at the Serena Kampala Hotel, where members received an update on the Fund’s financial performance, investments and outlook.
“The interest amounts to sh5.44 trillion, which will be shared by the members. This is the highest interest rate in the history of the fund, and it is for the standard contributors to the fund,” Musasizi said.

The announcement follows a strong financial performance year for NSSF. The Fund reported total income of about sh6.51 trillion, an 85% increase from approximately sh3.51 trillion recorded in the previous financial year.
NSSF’s assets under management also grew by 26%, from sh26 trillion in June 2025 to sh32.8 trillion by June 2026, according to figures presented by the Fund.
Member contributions increased by 13% to sh2.42 trillion, while benefits paid to members rose by 17% to about sh1.55 trillion.
