After a tenure spanning nearly a decade, Keith Kalyegira will be bidding farewell as Chief Executive Officer at the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

In today’s (July 24) edition of the New Vision, CMA noted in a notice that it is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer.

“The successful candidate should be ready to continue with the momentum that the CMA has exhibited so far in regulating and deepening the market,” the notice read in part.

CMA is responsible for licensing, approving and supervising securities brokers, fund managers, stock exchanges and other intermediaries in Uganda's securities industry, as well as developing the capital market of Uganda.

In January this year, CMA appointed a new board, headed by Saul Sseremba to provide oversight for the activities in the capital markets space.

According to the notice, the Chief Executive Officer will provide visionary leadership in the regulation, supervision and development of the capital markets with the overall objective of investor protection.

Kalyegira has served as CEO since December 2013. Under his stewardship, CMA underwent a profound digital transformation, embracing cutting-edge technologies to streamline processes and improve service deliver.

Prior to taking over the role, he was the Strategic Advisor at the Energy Water and Sanitation Authority, Rwanda. Between 2008 and 2013, he was a Managing Partner at Momentum Consulting and Capital Ltd, an investment advisory service.
