In a bid to enhance accessibility, Interswitch has sealed a strategic partnership with Tropical Bank Limited aimed at bringing banking services closer to customers across Uganda.
Through this partnership, Tropical Bank customers will now be able to access a range of essential banking services at all Quickteller agent locations nationwide.
This development significantly expands Tropical Bank’s service touchpoints, offering customers greater convenience, accessibility, and flexibility in managing their financial transactions. The development was announced on Monday in Kampala.
“Everyday transactions should be simple, convenient, and within reach for everyone. Through the Quickteller agent network, we are bringing banking services closer to communities and helping more people participate in the formal financial ecosystem,” Moris Seguya, Interswitch Uganda Country General Manager, noted.
The move directly tackles Uganda’s financial inclusion gap. Bank of Uganda data shows only 38% of adults have a bank account, with rural communities citing distance and cost as the main barriers. By leveraging Interswitch’s agent infrastructure, Tropical Bank expands its physical footprint 300-fold without building new branches.
The partnership thus leverages Interswitch’s extensive agent network and technology capabilities to support Tropical Bank’s commitment to inclusive, customer-centric banking.
Tropical Bank, like several other financial institutions, continues to play a key role in supporting individuals, SMEs, and corporations with tailored banking solutions.
By integrating with the Quickteller platform, it strengthens its distribution channels while enhancing service delivery to its customers, particularly in underserved and high-traffic locations.

“This partnership with Interswitch allows us to extend our reach beyond traditional banking halls and bring our services closer to our customers. We are pleased to collaborate with Interswitch to offer secure, reliable, and convenient banking services through the Quickteller agent network across Uganda.” Abdulaziz Mansur stated.
The partnership comes at a time when Uganda's financial sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by increasing mobile phone penetration, growing adoption of digital payments, and efforts by regulators and financial institutions to broaden financial inclusion.
Industry experts say collaborations between banks and financial technology providers are becoming increasingly important as financial institutions seek to reach customers beyond traditional branch networks.
