Uganda's annual inflation rate rose to 4.6% in September, its highest level in 12 months, as prolonged dry conditions pushed up food prices and increased pressure on household budgets, eroding spending power for many consumers.

Annual inflation for the year ended August was 4.1%. The latest data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) shows the rise in living costs is being driven largely by weather-related disruptions to agricultural production.

UBOS also reports higher prices for food and other essentials, forcing many households in the informal sector to cut back on savings and discretionary spending.
