IABC Africa has announced its 2026/27 regional board, with Christine Breet, SCMP, FCSCE, taking up the role of chairperson for the new term.

The new board brings together communication professionals from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda, reflecting the association’s commitment to building a more inclusive, visible and connected professional communication community across the continent.

Breet succeeds Dr Yemi Adeyemi, SCMP, FNIPR, who served as chairperson during the 2025/26 term, while Adeyemi will continue to support the region as past chair and director of governance.

IABC Africa’s 2026/27 strategy focuses on strengthening member value, expanding professional development, recognising communication excellence, and growing regional participation.

In partnership with AUDA-NEPAD, it will also present the IABC Africa Conference in Cape Town from 21 to 23 October 2026.

The board’s priorities include growing membership and making its benefits more practical and visible. It will create more learning and certification opportunities, celebrate excellence through the Quill Awards Programme, explore new ways to recognise emerging talent, expand regional visibility and strengthen digital engagement.

"Our focus for 2026/27 is simple. We want communicators across Africa to see themselves in IABC Africa, experience real value from membership and feel they belong to a professional community where they can learn, lead and be recognised," Breet said.

She added that the strength of the new board lies in its regional representation, professional expertise and shared commitment to strategic communication.

“We are entering an exciting period of growth and invite our members, volunteers, partners and sponsors to help shape the next chapter of IABC Africa. We want the association to become a stronger, more visible and more valuable platform for strategic communication excellence across the continent.”

IABC Africa strengthened its regional visibility and professional development offering. The region delivered membership communication campaigns, supported the build-up to the 2026 regional conference, promoted webinars and industry conversations, recognised members and continued to build a stronger digital presence across Africa.
