Artisanal miners become Uganda’s biggest extractive producers
At mineral level, iron ore dominated Uganda’s production, with a value of sh289.35b, accounting for 62.25% of total production of sh464b. Limestone followed with sh102.92b (22.13%), while pozzolana contributed sh23.22b (4.99%). Other minerals included syenitic aggregate valued at sh6.36b, kaolin at sh3.69b, marble at sh2.93b, volcanic ash at sh1.34b, wolfram at sh1.23b, gold at sh785m, feldspar (sh47m) and granite that generated sh5.6m.
