Uganda Golf Club Lady Section’s Lady Captain Wendy Angudeyo will start her second term in style by engaging over 200 golfers in the annual Lady Captain’s Prize tournament at Kitante on Saturday.

The tournament follows an Annual General Meeting on Thursday that brought an end to her first term alongside her executive. But she was returned as captain with her new executive welcoming Sarah Nduhukire and Patience Nkunda as vice-captain and secretary respectively.  Berna Musanabera (Treasurer) and Flavia Namakula (Competitions Secretary) are the other committee members.

“I have served as UGC Lady Captain for one year so far and I am happy to have been reelected to serve for a second year. I enjoyed my first year and I have grown into the role,” Angudeyo said.

“I am grateful to the outgoing team for all the work they put in to make my tenure a success. I will continue the good work with the new team. I invite all golfers to come and enjoy this tournament.” she stated.

Addressing a press conference at the Uganda Golf Club on Thursday, Angudeyo said this year’s event had been made possible with support from their strategic partners and sponsors; KCB Bank, Pepsi, Wandaz Products Ltd, Gorilla Heights Lodge, Case Medical Services, Kenya Airways, Orchard Interiors, UBL (WhiteCap Crisp) and NBS Sport.

She said the additional year would help them accomplish and build on their successes with the juniors’ program and other tournaments. The tournament will be played under the medal format of play.

UBL Innovations Projects Manager, Simon Lapyem congratulated Wendy and her team upon her second term as Lady Captain and promised to continue championing inclusion through sport.

“As we continue to celebrate women this March, we continue to champion inclusion through supporting all the women who are breaking barriers within different sectors, especially male-dominated spaces such as sports,” Lapyem whose company will provide support through their WhiteCap Crisp brand, stated.

Kenya Airways Country Manager Felix Mwangagi also hailed Angudeyo for the good work and committed their continued support to the game. “Kenya Airways (KQ) supports golf in Kenya and Uganda and will follow the trends to continue growing the sport and the network in Uganda and Kenya,” Mwangagi said.

KQ will offer two air tickets (one free and the other highly discounted) to one of the exciting golfing destinations with the winner choosing between Nairobi, Mombasa, Johannesburg, or Cape Town. The other prizes on offer include accommodation at Gorilla Heights Lodge and other goodies from KCB that provided sh8m cash and will on top dress the golfers on the day.
