Insurance Agents will this Friday be recognized for their tremendous roles in the Insurance Cycle which has seen the industry register substantial growth in recent years.
The 13th Annual UIA Insurance Agents Awards to be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo is expected to be officiated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) boss Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega.

This year’s edition will be under the theme: “Celebrating Agents as catalysts of change in the industry” and will recognize outstanding Agents in the following categories:
Best New Agent, Best Life Agent - High Premiums Best Life Agent - High Policies, Best Life Agent - High Persistence, Best MTP Agent – Eastern Region, Best MTP Agent – Central Region.
Best MTP Agents – Northern Region and Best MTP Agent - Western Region.

Who is an Insurance Agent?
Insurance Agents are professionals who sell insurance companies’ products to customers. They represent the company to help consumers select the right insurance based on their needs.
These have also in the past been described as unsung heroes of the insurance industry, working tirelessly to help individuals and businesses protect themselves against unforeseen risks. They are an integral part of the Insurance ecosystem.
These also help clients understand complex policies & ensure that they have the right coverage.
It is important to note that before becoming an Insurance Agent, one has to complete extensive training & pass licensing exams.
This ensures that the Agents possess the necessary knowledge & expertise to assist clients with their insurance needs.
During the 2022 awards, some of the Award categories under life insurance included; best new agent, persistence award, agent with the highest premium written, new business-policies written and agent of the year award.
The selection criteria for the agent of the year life insurance looked at the agent with the highest total average contribution.
The overall UIA Insurance Agent of the year 2022 was Namwanje Hasifah from Jubilee Life Assurance Company Uganda.
